Biography

A life, the bare bones, to set the record straight --

I was born July 4, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I grew up in Finneytown, a suburb north of Cincinnati.  I went to FInneytown's schools.  After high school I bounced around Ohio's colleges and universities -- Case Tech, Miami University and the University of Cincinnati.  Eventually I took my degree in literature at UC and headed to California.  I spent the next eight years in the Bay Area, then spent more than 30 years in New York City.  Finally, in June 2006, I moved to the Colorado high country.

In my life I've held many different jobs.  Busboy, dishwasher, clerk, salesman, statistical typist, word processor, legal secretary, hospital orderly, janitor, house painter, political functionary, shift supervisor.  But I've also been a writer, photographer, actor, director and producer.  As an actor, I've performed in California and New York in plays by Shakespeare, Shaw, Chekov, Brecht, Beckett, Camus, Joe Orton and Dylan Thomas, among others.  On the other side of the footlights, I have designed, lighted, produced and directed, and served as an acting coach and script consultant.  My photography has been exhibited
at the Cube Gallery at Rubin Baum in Rockefeller Center, at the Word and Image Gallery at Bright Hill Center in Treadwell, New York, and at the Provin' Ground Cafe & Gallery in Leadville, Colorado.  As a writer, I've written novels, short stories and poetry.

I currently live on the tundra below Mt. Princeton in Buena Vista, Colorado with my two cats, Raspberry, a red tabby, and Paige, a tortoise-tabby-calico-Abyssinian mix.
